Marcotte’s Screechy Screed of Screedtastic Screechitude

Ace vs. Amanda Marcotte. Ace wins. I still don’t think there are a lot of lessons to be drawn from this other than that John Edwards’ vetting process stinks. Which does have some over-arching significance — if he can’t hire an internet evangelist, how’s he gonna do when it comes to the SecDef or (god forbid) Supreme Court justice?

The part of Marcotte’s screechy screed that stands out to this reader is her repeated invocation of the Right Wing Noise and/or Smear Machine. How exactly is repeating a person’s own words a smear?

Fallout from l’affaire Marcotte - pols afraid of bloggers?

Ann Althouse:

Ooh, everyone’s afraid of the bloggers. I mean, the Democratic candidates are afraid of the lefty bloggers. I don’t think the Republican candidates are afraid of the righty bloggers. Think that’s a problem?

You can really tell that Kos wants the candidates to be afraid of him. It’s an interesting dynamic. There’s a real paradox to this lefty blogger power. They are so powerful that they are able to hurt the Democratic candidates in all sorts of strange new ways. Meanwhile, the non-lefty bloggers will amuse themselves watching and describing it all.

The problem for the lefty bloggers is that they’ve proven they can hurt the Dems, but they haven’t shown that they can help them. Until the “netroots” notches a few victories on their belts, the relationship will remain tenuous.

cl1p.net - an internet clipboard

With cl1p.net you can copy and paste between computers.

Just enter in any URL that starts with http://cl1p.net (example: http://cl1p.net/dltqovyirldnodk/) and post. Then from any other computer enter the same URL and copy.

This seems like it could be useful. A good way to move data between computers when there is a firewall in the way or webmail is not available. A USB key does the same thing, but for little snips of data, an internet clipboard works better. It’s also useful for bloggers whose site is down. Compose posts and save to cl1p.net, then copy and paste into your site when it’s back up, even from a different computer. This post, for example, is at cl1p.net/fred.

Look who’s back

Michele’s back. Apparently. Maybe kinda sorta, in an as yet indeterminate form. Good news though. Unfortunately, she experienced a Life Changing Event whilst away. I have to say I understand, having imposed a blogging exile from August 2005 - February 2006 during my own Life Changing Events. But the world keeps on turning, the sun keeps rising, blah blah blah. And you can’t ever shut up a blogger.
