Comment on Ban smoking in restaurants? Nyet! by Kyle

If the market knew what it was doing, it would support this ban. Studies of all the cities and states that have invoked this ban show that if anything restaurants and bars do better after the ban not worse. Everyone I know that has been to NYC, California, or the like are amazed how much better they enjoy going out and not smelling like smoke at the end of the night.

I am tired of people calling every law they disagree with a "nanny state" law. WTF every law could be considered "nanny state" if you look at it long enough. When the actions of a person are detrimental to me, why should I be responsible to mediate them? When you invade my space why should I have to leave? Keep you ass stink smoke to yourself. The same thing goes for cell phones. IT IS A FACT - talking on a cell phone while driving causes accidents. People are killed because you can't wait ten minutes to ask your friend what is going on tonight. Is that worth life and death? This should and will be outlawed someday.

And while I'm on a rant, screw the market. The market does not give people what they want or need; it gives them what will make the most money. If they can make money selling poison kool-aid they will. The market requires an external force to keep it in check. If we waited on the market to make changes, they would still be selling lead paint, and DDT. I'll bet the market wouldn't have established a health department to inspect restaurants you go to. Do you have a right to eat food that has been prepared without maggots?

Sorry to go off, but I am tired of excuses. I can't wait until the day smoking is a distant memory.

What about the possibility of pulling out of Iraq, letting Iran invade and lose resources fighting their own kind,
and then come in and mop up the dregs?

FatBlogging : Bloggers on Weight Loss Program...

I was amused when I saw posts titled 221, 196 etc across my news reader. Jason Calacanis is well known for starting a new buzz in the blogosphere. This time its about bloggers losing weight and blogging about it.
In a post titled has Fatbloggers unite!...
